• Belinda Everett

    Bee

The founder, brains and energy behind Bee Pedal Ready.

Bee is a sports lover and has been playing all types since she was a child.

She has: taught children through to adults, learn to ride, bike rides, balance bike sessions, BMX at the National Cycling Centre, run bike mechanic workshops, created and lead mass bike events. And is even Greater Manchester's Bicycle Mayor. She actively pushes for much needed diversity in the lack of representation in the cycling and mechanics industry and wants to be a catalyst for change.

If she was a bike part / tool:

She would be the frame. She is the core piece. It takes special skills to craft its qualities, it's strong, resilient and it's the part that people see first as it makes an impact.

    Bea

    Project Manager & Ride Leader

I was super lucky and learnt to ride a bike with all the kids on my street when I was tiny, we had an open bike shed and we shared all the bikes. I love the feeling when I cycle and it's always made better when I cycle with others. I really love meeting new people, enjoying beautiful scenery and making new connections.

If she was a bike part / tool:

I’d be an adjustable spanner. I think that I am adaptable, supportive and ready to get stuck into any situation.

    Fiona

    Marketing & Design

I love riding my bike around the city, and on the school run, giving me that youthful sense of freedom.

If she was a bike part / tool:

I'd be the brakes, because you can depend on me. I work well under pressure and I sometimes need a little tweaking to stay on track.

  • Charlotte

    Charlotte

    Admin Assistant & Ride Leader

I am driven by helping others and striving to be the best version of myself.

I am very passionate about cycling. I like the sense of freedom it brings and it always makes me feel better, both physically and mentally. I love to find new routes when cycling and it’s a great way to meet new people.

I love exploring on a bike because it allows you to go further than a walk but see more than you would from a car. Not to mention the environmental benefits! I strongly believe in inclusivity to improve diversity amongst cyclists.

If she was a bike part / tool:

The handlebar, steady and level headed. I can always be relied upon to steer people in the right direction.

    Vidihya

    Director

Cycling for me signifies freedom and fun and friendship. I got into cycling for the same reason.

If she was a bike part / tool:

I’d be the chain. It signifies to keep going.

  • Abigail

    Abigail

    Director

I longed for a bike when I was a child but we couldn't afford one. I learnt to ride on whoever let me have a go on theirs. I cycled often with my husband and children but never had the courage to venture out alone. I do now and that's due to the confidence I've gained from joining women's cycling groups.

If she was a bike part / tool:

I'd be the tyre because it's always treading new ground and sometimes it is changed in order to become stronger and more resilient.

  • Sabina

    Sabina

    Mechanic and Ride Leader

I have been cycling most of my life: I learned to cycle as a kid. I spent some time living in the US and Canada and now in Manchester and it’s been great to have this cycling community here. I find community and friendship through cycling, and I feel a lot of social change can happen through cycling. Part of this involves overcoming challenges and barriers and doing things that might feel intimidating.

If she was a bike part / tool:

A cassette! It allows you to adapt to new terrain at your own pace.

  • Anabel

    Anabel

    Ride Leader

I got into cycling because my dad bought me a bike just over 10 years ago, and I was crazy enough to try cycling in London as my first venture out on it. After that, everything felt easy.

If she was a bike part / tool:

She would be a handle because I’m supportive, especially to newbie cyclists!

  • Tuba

    Tuba

    Mechanic

I cycled a lot as a kid but then I didn’t cycle much till I moved to England in 2018. Ever since I came here I got myself a bike and never looked back. I got into repairing my own bike during lockdown and it evolved from that as a hobby into a lifestyle.

  • Nancy

    Nancy

    Facilitator

I've enjoyed cycling since I was a child. Some of my best memories growing up are being out on my bike on long summer days with my friends. I loved the feeling of freedom it gave me.

Bee Pedal Ready is the first bike group I've joined. It's great exploring new places, meeting like minded people & gaining confidence in maintaining my bike. Plus, it's a great way to keep physically & mentally fit.

If she was a bike part / tool:

I'd be a front wheel or tyre - Centered and going in the right direction.
